Aimed at Beginners to Intermediate players
This sessions provides an opportunity for young players to try a new sport, or for those that have played at school or with family. It will focus on learning skills required for badminton. The players will be introduced to grips, technique, footwork, the shots needed for the game, scoring and play lots of fun games.
13th May / 20th May / 3rd June / 10th June / 17th /24 th June / 1 July all sessions have been moved to the University of Derby Sports Centre, kedleston Road, DE22 1GB due to exams in the Lees Brook Sports Hall.
No sessions on the Bank Holidays 6th and 27th May
All the current sessions are run by Donna Kellogg an Olympian 2000, 2004, and 2008, World, European and Commonwealth Games Medallist and former Professional Badminton Player. In this session we have access to all badminton courts at the Academy and we have other coaches appointed to support the children of varying levels and run on 1:8 coach/player ratio.
Children can sign up for 1 taster session only and then if they would like to continue please sign up for the remainder of the term.
The age is a guideline and younger children that can strike over the net would be welcome to join this beginners class
